What if universities were to use cloud computing?

So im very interested in the whole concept of cloud computing, not that I agree with it.. seeing as I think the practice of it now seems great and wonderful, but when it actually comes into affect i think we'll be running into alot of problems. Anyway, just wondering what you guys think if cloud computing were to brought to universities and how it would affect them? i hope my university doesn't change to cloud computing.. sighWhat if universities were to use cloud computing?
There must be a misconception about how cloud based computing is perceived by some individuals. Actually it posses advantages as the school needs not to maintain an IT department, several computers and servers that will store digital files. What if universities were to use cloud computing?
Many have already adopted the Google platform for their campus'. It provides an excellent means of sharing information easily and making it extremely accessible no matter where you are. There is always the concern of who owns the information....but otherwise I think the collaboration and sharing aspects that cloud computing bring to the table are really a positive thing.

Don't you think it would be nice to be working on the same paper with your group mates on a project and not even have to be in the same room? You could still see what the other person was changing/typing live as it happened. Its powerful stuff. What if universities were to use cloud computing?
There are a few benefits of cloud for universities

--- Collaboration tools leads to collective intelligence %26amp; creativity as students may work on their project document at the same time.

--- Help teachers (%26amp; students) in organizing their classroom presentations and schedules.

Cloud computing sounds good on paper and it may ultimately be great. However there is alot of setup work.
