Hi Black: Below is a snippet from a document about cloud computing explaining cloud computing:
What’s the cloud? “Cloud” is a metaphor for the
Internet. It’s an abstraction of how networks of
computers are connected, in the old days by local
area and wide area networks, now by the Internet.
Over the last 5 to 10 years more companies have
been delivering software that’s accessible from the
Internet. They “own” the software and deliver it as
a “service,” instead of having customers own and
maintain it. Software-as-a-service, or SaaS, is an
application that businesses access and use via the
Internet. The actual software applications reside on
servers all over the web, in the cloud. You can see the document here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/25548900/Transition-to-the-Cloud-Bi101

imagine the computer connected through internet as particle of a cloud, they as a whole are the cloud.
basically cloud computing is computation done using all this cloud.
nowadays it mainly is confused with "software as a service"; this is one of what cloud computing can be used for but the term is misleading while "software as a service" makes clear what it is for real the thing called often "cloud computing"What is cloud computing/programming?
It is similar to the motto "all for one and one for all". It's a distributed computation done by numbers of computer at the same time and at the same job. To learn more about this you can visit this site: http://www.cloudcomputingleaders.net
Happy to share with you, good luck...
